Free Throw Contest

See how many three pointers you can sink to win this challenge! This program usually takes place in spring or summer of each year at the AMR Physical Fitness Center. It is open to all Active Duty military, adult Family Members (18 years or older), DA Civilians, National Guardsmen, Army Reservists and retires. This is a non-team program where any competitors who wishes to can enter and compete individually.

Sprinter’s Challenge

Usually taking place in spring of each year, this challenge crowns the fastest Army Hawaii runners! This event includes Men’s and Women’s Open and Individual divisions for the 40-yard dash and 100-meter dash. Taking place at the Stoneman Stadium Track on Schofield Barracks, this event is open to Active Duty Soldiers, National Guardsmen and Army Reservists within the geographical limits of Hawaii.

Home Run Derby

How many home runs can you hit, derby style? Find out through this great program taking place in the spring or summer. This program usually takes place on Schofield Barracks and is open to Active Duty Soldiers, Retired Soldiers, other military working on an Army installation, National Guardsman, Army Reservists and DOD and AAFEES civilians (to include DOD contractors) that work on an Army Installation on Oahu.

30 and Over Basketball Tournament

This program is for those who are still young at heart. Join this tournament specifically designed for the more experienced Soldier to prove you’ve still got it to the newbies! This program usually takes place in summer or fall of each year at the Fort Shafter Physical Fitness Center. Active Duty Soldiers, Retired Soldiers, other military working or residing on an Army installation, National Guardsman and Army Reservists may enter as a unit or a composite team.

Christmas Softball Tournament

Start the holiday season off right with this great softball tournament! It is open to Company, Battery, Troop and Detachment level units of Active-Duty Army, Army Reserve and National Guard within the geographical limits of Hawaii.

Great Aloha Run

Join the Army team for this great run through downtown Honolulu! Occurring in February of each year, the Great Aloha Run is a 10K race organized by local groups beginning at the Aloha Tower and ending at Aloha Stadium in downtown Honolulu. Participate as a unit through the Sounds of Freedom program, or run on your own. More information about the race can be obtained at www.greataloharun.com or you can look for entry forms and information sheets to be available in our sports facilities usually in December of each year for the following year’s race.

Garrison Organization Day Run

Every year, the United States Army Garrison-Hawaii, FMWR’s chain of command, takes one week to celebrate all things Garrison! Usually taking place in May of each year, one of the most popular events of “GOC Week” is the Fun Run. This race gives Department of the Army civilian employees a chance to shine. Contact the Recreation Activities office at 655-0111/2 for more information on this race as it becomes available.

Fourth of July 5K Fun Run

Kick-off the outdoor artery-clogging food and fun fest that is the Fourth of July with a healthy heart Fun Run! Get your exercise out of the way early and spend the rest of the day playing. The race is traditionally the first event that starts a full day of holiday festivities at Schofield Barracks. Often paired with a Children’s 1 Mile Fun Run, these races are open to any eligible FMWR patron who wishes to participate.

10-Mile Race Around Wheeler

Jump to the big leagues with this program. Enter the 10-Mile Race Around Wheeler, taking place in June every year, for your chance to win a spot in the Army 10 Miler occurring in Washington D.C. in fall of each year. This race is open to Active Duty Soldiers, retired Soldiers, other military working or residing on an Army installation, National Guardsmen, Army Reservists and their adult Family Members (18 years and older) and DOD and AAFES civilians working on an Army installation in Hawaii.
